Members Updated on eServices from Auckland Libraries at November Meeting

At our November Monthly Meeting (the last for the year) Hilary Arrowsmith and her assistant Clare, from the Remuera Library, conducted a very interactive session to update all present on how to install and use the latest library-related apps.

Members had brought their various Apple iPads or Android Tablets but the three key apps – Libby, RB Digital and Borrow Box – work identically on either system as well as on the whole range of mobile phones. There are the usual minor differences with the installation in that Apple users visit the Apple App store, whereas Android users find them in the Google Play store. After that, it is basically a matter of just exploring these very intuitive and seamless apps.

Libby starts off by having you nominate your home library. After that, you may explore all the various option links, including What’s New, What’s Popular and What’s Available. You can then use Borrow Box to borrow a selection of eBooks and eAudiobooks. For magazines, the app formerly called Zinio is now called RB Digital. As before, borrowing eMagazines is free and there are no lates frees.

Its very much a matter of plunging in and exploring all those options and the interactive format of the meeting was ideal. Hilary and Clare are visiting as many SeniorNet’s and similar groups as they can but Librarians at all the Auckland Libraries are on hand to give the same friendly assistance to everyone who visits. That means you!
