Our next monthly Branch Meeting will be Wednesday 20 May at 10am in our rooms, 118 Apirana Avenue, Glen Innes. There is ample off-street parking at the rear of the building.
This month we have a mix of shall we say a “Mini” speaker and an in-house demonstration
Our Mini speaker is Liz Talbot who will demonstrate the “CapTel” telephone that displays a caption of a telephone conservation for those with hearing difficulties. CapTel is supported by the Government and the National Foundation for the Deaf to raise awareness for assisting people with hearing impairment.
In-house Demo. Bill Jamieson, who has published books on retirement, will show you how to prepare a Long Term Retirement Plan Budget and create an Investment Portfolio Plan, with practical examples. These two tools can help you manage your future with confidence. These two Excel spreadsheets can be regularly checked, modified and updated over time. With sufficient interest a course will be scheduled with the usual tuition and course notes.
OPEN DAY Wednesday 27 May 10am to 4pm at the rooms. Brochures, and advertising is well advanced promoting our open day. We have a large number of tutors and helpers to meet and show off our range of computer knowledge.
Other Learning Centres tell us that “word of mouth” is the most successful way of increasing membership.
We have a full range of Microsoft and iPad & Mac courses with Android Samsung Galaxy tablet and internet banking coming on stream shortly. May I ask members to tell your neighbours and friends who may be interested in furthering their computer knowledge to promote our Open Day and encourage them to pay us a visit.
We would like to do more, there are newer technologies connected with iPhones and smart phones such as Samsung Galaxy but do not have a tutor willing to demonstrate in a workshop or take a class. These devices are now more powerful and can do most things that are on desktops, laptops and tablets. Again, if by any chance you are aware of someone who could help SNEB in tutoring these devices it would be most appreciated.
Next month Grant Sidaway will be our Speaker on June 17
